The Yellow Farmhouse next to Alpine Bank
Back at the turn of the century (the last century, that is) a gentle old farmhouse stood watch over a pastoral valley of hay meadows. Once the hub of the 160-acre Hoaglund sheep ranch, this log farmhouse still looks out over the river toward the Snowmass golf course and meadows. It's now the oldest building in Snowmass Village, and it has been joined by condos and a nearby mall. Since the late 1800's, this log house has been home to numerous families whose children, now in their eighties, often visit us. Some 50 years ago, the logs were wrapped in yellow clapboard, and the families were replaced by a succession of businesses including the original Snowmass powder trip tours, a nursery school, a surveyor's office, a medical clinic and a French restaurant. We moved in and restored the building in 1994. Our favorite times here are when old friends, who still remember the ranching days, drop by and share stories of the quiet years. Their history and soul fill every room. Stop by our office for more straight talk about real estate, or just to visit over a cup of coffee. And, on Fridays, there's always HOMEMADE PIE!
